Approval Date February 11, 2007
It is the policy of the Firecrafter Organization to refrain from initiating contact with parties outside the Crossroads of America Council (CAC) concerning the expansion of the Firecrafter beyond the boundaries of CAC. The Firecrafter organization does not seek nor compete with or become a national Scouting honor organization.
Firecrafter CAC recognizes the value that an earned-rank program can complement both a Scout’s experience at summer camp and complete requirements within the Scouting rank advancement structure. The Firecrafter Chief shall appoint a standing Expansion Committee to address all matters relevant to supporting new earned-rank programs.
Firecrafter CAC offers the below listed levels of support for individuals, troops, and council based program.
- Individual Scouts from outside CAC who wish to become Firecrafters are encouraged to attend a CAC long-term summer camp to earn the ranks of Camper, Woodsman, and to complete the first 12 requirements for the Firecrafter. The Scout may then participate in the Firecrafter Ritual to complete the final 13th requirement.
- CAC or out of council troops who wish to run the Firecrafter program at an out-of-council long term camp should utilize the Lone Troop Program. It should be noted that the Lone Troop Program requires Firecrafters within the troop to plan and execute the program as described in the Firecrafter Code. Troops should contact the Vice-Chief of the Firecrafter Council Committee on information pertaining to the Lone Troop Program.
- Councils interested in starting an earned-rank camping organization modeled after Firecrafter CAC shall be provided resources, guidance and contact though the Firecrafter Expansion Committee. Firecrafter CAC and the CAC Council Executive must receive a formal written letter of request from the Executive of the interested Council prior to delivering any support. The Firecrafter Organization through the standing Firecrafter Expansion Committee may give support on the condition that no rank in the new organization utilizes the term “Firecrafter”. Firecrafter Council Committee’s primary responsibility to its membership is the preservation of the Firecrafter Organization, Crossroads of America Council. Firecrafter recognizes that the success of any organization requires commitment and ownership of its members. To this end, any new organization is encouraged to build its own traditions, culture, and pride within the guideline of the Boy Scouts of America.
